Summary
ShopGoodwill.com®, the leading nonprofit e-commerce auction platform, is proud to announce the #CreateOpportunity initiative, a groundbreaking campaign aimed at raising awareness about the impact of sustainable shopping. In partnership with artists, creators, and the upcycle community, ShopGoodwill.com invites consumers to join the movement by sharing how they give items a second life. This inspiring campaign is celebrated by a network of over 2,500 Goodwill stores nationwide, inspiring millions of individuals to become sustainable shoppers. As part of the initiative, the remarkable teenage artist Clara Woods has been named the first #CreateOpportunity ShopGoodwill.com ambassador, highlighting the transformative power of online sustainable shopping and consumerism.
Clara Woods, a 17-year-old artist who has defied all odds, is set to revolutionize the modern art scene as the first ambassador of the #CreateOpportunity initiative by ShopGoodwill.com®. Clara's journey as an artist has been shaped by her experience with a perinatal stroke and extensive brain damage. Despite these challenges, she has embraced her unique perspective and found solace in art.
Clara firmly believes that her brain damage has allowed her to see the world in a different way. "I'm not my disability, but my disability is part of who I am," she says. "My art comes from my heart; it is the only place where I can be 100% myself!" Her journey as an artist has been characterized by a deep connection between her heart, her creativity, and her ability to communicate with others.
Despite facing difficulties with reading, writing, and speaking, Clara has found innovative ways to express herself and connect with her audience on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. With the support of her family, Clara manages her content and engages with her community. Her mother assists in translating her thoughts into written content, which Clara reviews and approves. Using an app to record her voice, Clara brings her own words to life in videos, interpreting her own messages. Additionally, she leverages her phone's capabilities to read text messages, notes, and articles, enabling her active participation online.

Being chosen as the first #CreateOpportunity ShopGoodwill.com ambassador holds deep meaning for Clara. "I'm so happy to be an ambassador for ShopGoodwill.com," she exclaims. "For me, this collaboration is all about inclusion. I feel included, I feel part of something bigger than myself." Clara sees her ambassadorship as an opportunity to share her story, demonstrating that adversity and pain can be transformed into opportunities and dreams can become a reality.
Clara's vision for the platform is to raise awareness about online sustainable shopping and the potential for opportunity in adversity. She believes that sustainable shopping is not only the future but also a way to contribute to a healthier planet. About The SustainabilityX® Magazine
The SustainabilityX® Magazine is an award-winning, digital, female-founded, and female-led non-profit initiative bringing the environment and economy together for a sustainable future through dialogue. Founded on May 8, 2016 and inspired by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by Canada’s Top 30 Under 30 in Sustainability Leadership awardee, Supriya Verma, the digital media initiative focuses on approaching the world’s most pressing challenges with a holistic, integrated, systems-based perspective as opposed to the traditional and ineffective siloed approach with a single lens on interdisciplinary topics like climate and energy. This initiative ultimately seeks to explore how to effectively bring the environment and economy together through intellectual, insightful dialogue and thought-provoking discussion amongst individuals across sectors taking an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to untangling the intricate web of sustainability.
The SustainabilityX® Magazine is based upon the four pillars of sustainability: Environmental Stewardship which emphasizes improved environmental health, Economic Prosperity which emphasizes economic growth without the element of capitalism, Social Inclusion which emphasizes EDI for BIPOC and LGBTQ communities and marginalized, vulnerable populations, and Just Governance which emphasizes the equal rule of law via responsible political leadership to create fair systems for all. Identifying the diverse factors involved in sustainability, how they interact and how the disciplines are interconnected will help accelerate local, national, and international sustainability goals – in simpler words, aligning with The SustainabilityX® Magazine’s mission of bringing the environment and economy together for a sustainable future through dialogue for a sustainable future. Whether you have a background in science, engineering, business, law, politics, media and entertainment, or beyond, your voice matters.
